CSC-KUT Scholarships 2023 Japan

The CSC-KUT Scholarship Program at Kochi University of Technology is for the academic year 2023–2024. Its goal is to give awards to talented students in Japan.

The CSC-KUT Scholarship Program is a joint effort between Kochi University of Technology and the China Scholarship Council (CSC). It is only for faculty members or students from Chinese universities who want to get a doctorate or PhD at KUT. Depending on the program they choose to enroll in, the scholarship winners will get a scholarship worth 50,000 yen per month for living expenses, an exemption from admission fees and tuition, and a scholarship worth 150,000 yen for travel costs and initial living costs.

Professor Yasuharu Suematsu, the university’s first president, set it up in 1997 with the goal of turning out scholars who know a lot about many different fields and have a lot of skills.

Eligibility

Eligibility requirements for a CSC-KUT Scholarship are as follows:

  • Students from China can apply.
  • PhD / doctoral study programs in the fields of Intelligent Mechanical Engineering, Electronic and Photonic Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Energy Engineering, Infrastructure Systems Engineering, Environmental and Mathematical Sciences, Chemistry, Life Science and Technology, Materials Science and Engineering, Informatics at the Kochi University of Technology can be applied for. 
  • To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must have an excellent academic record and strong bachelor’s and master’s degrees from reputable universities in China or other countries.

How to Apply?

To apply for a CSC-KUT Scholarship Kindly follow the simple and easy application procedure:

  • Students interested to apply are required to complete the pre-application online form to be considered.
  • The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Bachelors degree academic transcript (original) in English or Japanese
  • Masters degree academic transcript (original) in English or Japanese
  • Master’s degree certificate (original) in English or Japanese
  • A copy of the intending applicant’s master’s thesis in English
  • Two signed recommendation letters in English or Japanese
  • Research Outline
  • Certificate of health (original) in English or Japanese issued within the past 6 months.
  • Certificate of English ability
  • Copies of your past publications
  • Certificate of Japanese ability
  • Copy of your passport ID pages
  • The applicants must hold a master’s degree from an accredited institution or hold a degree from an accredited institution in China comparable to the master’s degree offered at KUT. 
  • The students must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:
  • TOEFL iBT – 72 to 94 
  • IELTS – 5.5 to 6.0 
  • CET-6 certificate

  • For PhD students – Exemption from the 30,000 yen entrance examination fee, the 300,000 yen enrollment fee, and 535,800 yen/year in tuition fees, a CSC-KUT Scholarship of 50,000 yen/month as support for living expenses, and 150,000 yen for travel expenses and initial living costs. 
  • For Doctoral students – Exemption from the 10,000 yen entrance examination fee, the 50,000 yen enrollment fee, and tuition fees.
