Eckerd College is a national liberal arts college that holds accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It belongs to the Annapolis and Oberlin groupings. There are more than forty majors available at Eckerd College, or students can create their own concentrations. Eckerd College is accredited to grant bachelor’s degrees in the humanities, sciences, and fine arts.

Regardless of their concentration, all students complete four years of coursework in a wide range of subjects, including the arts, literature, and the scientific and social sciences. These classes, which are sometimes referred to as general education, are intended to foster critical thinking, the capacity for difficult choices, and a dedication to lifelong study.

Before graduating, each student must perform a predetermined number of hours of “reflective service-learning.” Freshmen take their first college course during “Autumn Term,” a three-week orientation run by professors and peer mentors.

In their senior year, every student is required to take a senior seminar course.

All undergraduate students have access to research opportunities, such as first-year research associateships, the Ford Apprentice Scholars Program, honor societies, an honors program, and an annual research symposium, because there are no graduate programs.
