Andrew and Nicola Forrest donated $65 million over ten years through the Minderoo Foundation to create the Forrest Research Foundation (‘the Foundation’) at The University of Western Australia in 2014. Their donation will help Western Australia become a world-class hub of research and innovation by recruiting the next generation of brilliant minds to the state.
The Forrest Research Foundation Research Fellowships are designed to attract and support exceptional early-career post-doctoral researchers who want to do high-quality research at a Western Australian university.
Forrest Fellows will be people of outstanding talent and ingenuity, with the highest academic success and the ability to have a meaningful impact on the world. They will assist Western Australia in developing world-class research and innovation capabilities.
The Fellowships will be held in combination with a job contract at a university in Western Australia. A portion of the employment contract will be dedicated to the Forrest Research Foundation’s overall objective (including mentoring of Forrest Scholars and ambassadorial duties). In addition, Forrest Fellows will be expected to provide leadership and mentoring within Forrest Hall.

Scholarship Coverage
Forrest Research Foundation Post-doctoral Fellowships will provide:
- Salary consistent with a Level A Step 8 appointment (for example The University of Western Australia Salary Scales approximately $95,000 in salary plus 17% superannuation)
- An accommodation allowance of $21,447 per annul (subject to marginal tax rate)
- A once-off relocation and research travel allowance of $12,000.
Eligibility Criteria for Forrest Research Foundation Post-doctoral Fellowships
To qualify for Forrest Research Foundation Post-doctoral Fellowships, candidate must fulfill all of the following requirements below:
- Required Language: English.
- Eligible Countries: All world countries
- To be eligible to apply applicants must be in their final year of PhD or no more than two years post PhD conferral.
- Applicants must reside at Forrest Hall for the duration of the Fellowship.
- Applicants must be intending to meet the requirements of a Forrest Fellow including mentoring of Forrest Scholars, ambassadorial duties for the Forrest Research Foundation and in providing leadership within Forrest Hall.
- Applicants must meet employment eligibility conditions at the nominated university.
- Researchers from all disciplines are eligible to apply.
