Selection Process for the Emory University Scholar Programs:

The Emory University Scholar Programs selection process is overseen by the Office of Admission in collaboration with esteemed faculty.

Annually, approximately 8,000–10,000 students vie for the opportunity to become scholars. From this pool, 175–200 students are chosen as Scholar Finalists. These finalists are required to participate in an on-campus Scholars Finalists Visit held in the spring, and the expenses for this visit are covered by the university.

Spanning several days, the visit incorporates activities and interviews specifically designed to familiarize the finalists with Emory University and the unique opportunities available to them.

Applicants who do not secure finalist status for a program still undergo a comprehensive review for admission based on their chosen application plan. Additionally, they are automatically considered for other smaller merit-based scholarships.

It is important to note that the scholar selection process operates independently of the financial aid process. In cases where a student qualifies for both merit scholarships and financial aid, merit scholarships take precedence. Students who have applied for financial aid may also be eligible for need-based grants and loans if there is remaining financial need beyond the merit scholarship award.
