Required Documents for the Chinese Government Scholarships
Completed application form: You will find it after registering on the official page of the Chinese government scholarships.
Step-1: Ensure that your highest degree and transcript are notarized.
Step-2: Include the official medical form or Foreigner Physical Examination Form, filled out by a doctor. Make sure the form is signed by the doctor and bears the official seal of the hospital or medical center where the examination took place. Attach a copy of this form, ensuring it is stamped with at least one stamp on top of the attached card photograph. Note that forms older than 6 months from the date of application are not accepted.
Step-3: Prepare a CV written in English or Chinese, detailing your specialty and academic interests. You can either attach a document or fill out the corresponding section of the application form. Given the limited space in the application form, it is recommended to attach this information as a separate document.
Step-4: Include two letters of recommendation written in English or Chinese from your previous university professors.
Step-5: If you are studying in English and are not a native English speaker, provide your TOEFL or IELTS Diploma. Each university specifies minimum scores for these diplomas. If you lack an IELTS certificate, submit a certificate stating that your last degree was taught in English, known as an English proficiency certificate.
Step-6: Present a comprehensive Study Plan or Research Proposal.
Step-7: Attach a copy of your passport.
Step-8: While not mandatory, if you possess an HSK diploma (level of Chinese), include it in your application. The Chinese government aims to fund up to two years of Chinese-language university studies, enhancing your chances of securing the scholarship, especially for programs taught in Chinese. This logic does not apply to English-taught courses.
Step-9: Though not mandatory, having an acceptance letter issued by professors of a Chinese university where you intend to study can enhance your application. Email professors in October for acceptance letters, and tailor your emails to express genuine interest in their field of expertise.
Step-10: Another optional but advantageous requirement is a pre-admission letter from the destination university. While challenging to obtain, especially if you haven’t studied at that university, it increases your chances of receiving the scholarship for that specific university. If unavailable, you may be considered for another university of your preference or any other chosen by the authorities.
Step-11: Include any additional documents such as research publications or distinctions.
Step-12: If a specific Chinese university requires an application screening or process fee, submit it, and attach the receipt to the two sets of documents listed above.
Note: Use a reliable courier service to ensure timely delivery of your CSC scholarship application documents directly to the address of the chosen Chinese University.
