International students are eligible to apply for fully funded scholarships from the University of South Australia in 2024–2025. These scholarships are offered by the University of South Australia for master’s and doctoral degrees. 1- Research Training Program international (RTPi) Scholarships

The Australian government funds the Research Training Program overseas (RTPi) Scholarships, which are given to overseas students based on their academic standing and potential for research. A stipend (living allowance) and a short-term fee offset are included in these scholarships.

Scholarship Worth

For PhD students, the total stipend is at least $32,500 per year (the 2023 stipend rate), paid biweekly over a maximum of three years, and for Master of Research students, over a maximum of two years. For PhD students, the entire fee waiver is for a maximum of three years, and for Master of Research students, it is for a maximum of two years. When a successful applicant needs a student visa, this scholarship provides Overseas Student Health Cover (Singles Cover) with BUPA, UniSA’s preferred supplier. There is a thesis allowance offered. 2- Enterprise Research Scholarship (ERS)

International students are granted Enterprise Research Scholarships (ERS), which are supported by the University and/or our partners and given out based on their academic standing and aptitude for research. A stipend (living allowance) and a short-term fee offset are included in these scholarships.

3- International Research Tuition Scholarship (IRTS)

International Research Tuition Scholarships (IRTS) are given to deserving international students based on their academic record and evidence of their research aptitude. These students will receive a full living stipend during their degree program, provided by external funding from organizations such as recognized sponsors or external scholarship awarding bodies.

Scholarship Worth

The IRTS total fee-waiver is for a maximum of 4 years for PhD students and over a maximum 2 years for Master of Research students.  This scholarship does not include Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) which is a condition of the student visa, and applicants are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate cover for themselves and their family where applicable.

Eligibility

In addition to meeting UniSA’s eligibility criteria, applicants must be:

  • Commencing international research degree students
  • High quality with demonstrated research capability, as assessed by UniSA
  • Be supported by a strong supervisory panel(with end-user adviser on the supervisory panel, where appropriate), and be enrolled in a research-rich environment
  • In receipt of (or been awarded) a fully externally funded stipend scholarship, or in receipt of a living stipend supported by external funding*.

*Note: the living stipend needs to be in the form of an externally funded scholarship administered through the University or in agreement with an industry partner, sponsorship body or organisation.
