The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (or Wilson Center) is a United States Presidential Memorial in Washington, D.C., that was established as part of the Smithsonian Institution by an act of Congress in 1968. It was named in honour of President Woodrow Wilson, the only president of the United States to hold a PhD, and it is also a think tank, having been named among the top ten in the world on multiple occasions by the University of Pennsylvania’s Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program.
Mark Andrew Green was named the Wilson Center’s next president, director, and CEO on January 28, 2021. On March 15, 2021, he began his term.
The centre was founded within the Smithsonian Institution, but it has its own board of trustees made up of both government officials and private citizens appointed by the President of the United States. The Wilson Quarterly, a digital magazine, is also published by the centre.
The centre is a public–private collaboration. Approximately one-third of the center’s operating funds are provided annually by a U.S. government appropriation, and the centre is housed in a wing of the Ronald Reagan Building, a federal office building where the centre has a 30-year rent-free lease.

- Academic candidates holding a Ph.D. or J.D. (degree must be received by the application deadline of October 1).
- Academic candidates demonstrating scholarly achievement by publications beyond their doctoral dissertations.
- Practitioners or policymakers with an equivalent level of professional achievement.
- English proficiency as the Center is designed to encourage the exchange of ideas among its fellows.
