A private, for-profit institution called Full Sail University is located in Winter Park, Florida. Full Sail Productions and Full Sail Center for the Recording Arts used to be recording studios in Ohio. The institution relocated to Florida in 1980, and in 2007 it started providing online degrees.
The Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges has granted Full Sail University accreditation to grant associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in business, computer animation, design, and audio. There were around 8,921 students enrolled in its Winter Park Campus in November 2018 in addition to 10,250 online students.
The academic degree programmes offered by Full Sail University are generally geared toward the media and entertainment fields of audio, film, and media creation, video game design, animation, and other related topics. In the Fabrication Lab on campus, FSU started providing courses in 2016 for developing augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) projects. The Smart Lab, which launched in May 2019 and offers AR, home network, and touchscreen technologies for testing applications, supports AR courses as well.
A learning management system (LMS) specifically designed by Full Sail University for its online courses using Macintosh-based material produced by an internal curriculum development team in collaboration with instructors from the campus. In order to provide Rumii, a VR classroom software, to its undergraduate students attending online programmes, Full Sail teamed up with Doghead Simulations in 2018.

In 2017, the university developed the Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting, which offers a new degree programme in sportscasting with training from Dan Patrick, a sportscaster, radio host, and actor, among other business experts.
