Interesting Facts About University of Edinburgh Business School (UEBS)
Explore Business Education Excellence at the University of Edinburgh: Home to the prestigious University of Edinburgh Business School (UEBS) since 1918, the institution has been a key player in providing top-notch business studies. The MBA program, a hallmark since 1980, is a testament to UEBS’s commitment to academic excellence.
The University of Edinburgh, granted its royal charter in 1582, is intricately linked to the esteemed business school. The collaboration began in 1916 when the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce advocated for a degree, leading to the introduction of the B.Com. in 1918. Notably, Scotland’s inaugural accounting and business method chair was established a year later, laying the foundation for the Departments of Business Studies, Accounting, and Business Method.
Originally part of the Faculty of Arts, these initiatives ultimately evolved, with the B.Com. degree giving way to the MA in Business Studies in the early 21st century. Over 3,500 students from various backgrounds, nations, and business specializations started the MBA journey in 1980, and a part-time MBA followed in 1984.
In 1996, the introduction of the MSc marked another milestone. The school’s commitment to modern education facilities was realized in August 2010, with a move to a state-of-the-art campus boasting eight lecture theaters, syndicate rooms, an executive education suite, and a cafe—a £17 million investment by the university.
Beyond the school and campus, Edinburgh itself offers a blend of historic and contemporary attractions, enriching the overall student experience. Join the legacy of business education at the University of Edinburgh Business School, where history meets innovation.
